About Champadevi Day Hiking
Located on the south side of the Kathmandu Valley, Champadevi Hill is one of the best places to spend your day away from the busy city in the heart of nature. And it is only 19km away from the center of Kathmandu, Thamel. The hill is named after the local goddess, ‘Champadevi’ which is situated on the top of the hill at an altitude of 2285 M.
The Champdevi Day Hiking offers a panoramic view of the Kathmandu Valley and various mountain ranges like Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh, Langtang, Gaurishankar, etc. For bird lovers as well, it is an ideal place to be. Just after 10-15 minutes of hiking, you will be welcomed by birds playing hide and seek around the trees. The pleasant-smelling lush mixed forest with the chirpings sound of the birds will make anyone forget the sweat and tiredness while walking up and down the trail. And not to forget the spectacular birds-eye views of the surrounding nature.
The Champadevi Day Hiking starts from Pokeli, a small settlement situated 3km ahead of Pharping and ends at Machhegaun after 4-5 hours of walk. Then you will drive to Kirtipur where you will have a delicious lunch in a traditional Newari restaurant. After lunch, a short visit around the ancient town of Kirtipur and drive to the hotel.
