About Shivapuri Day Hiking
The Shivapuri Day Hiking lies within the Shivapuri National Park, a National Park rich in wildlife and vegetation near Kathmandu and located in the northern hills surrounding the valley. It consists mainly of two hills; Shivapuri and Nagarjun. The Shivapuri National Park covers an area of 159 square km spread over 3 districts- Kathmandu, Nuwakot, and Sindhupalchwok.
In this hike, we will hike from Budanilkantha to Shivapuri Peak(2732 M) which is the second-highest among the hills that surrounds the Kathmandu Valley via Nagi Gompa and Bagdwar(2520 M). During the hike, we will visit Nagi Gompa, a quiet and peaceful Buddhist monastery for nuns with a beautiful view of the city. And then we will pass through Bagdwar, the origin of the Bagmati River, and a pilgrimage site. And finally, from there, we will reach Shivapuri Peak within 20-40 minutes of walk. From the peak, the stunning view of the Himalayas and Kathmandu city can be seen which is simply astonishing.
