Trek Overview
The Khopra Danda Trek is one of the newest trekking routes in Nepal, which started as a community eco-lodge trek to support local communities through tourism. Situated just north of the classic Ghorepani Poon Hill, the trek offers a stunning panorama of the Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Manaslu ranges. From Khopra Danda, standing at 3640 meters, you get a superb up-close view of the world’s seventh-highest peak, Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m), including other prominent peaks like Annapurna South, Annapurna Varaha Shikhar, Nilgiri, and Tukuche.
The Khopra Danda Trek boasts some of the most beautiful viewpoints in Nepal, including Muldai Danda, Mohare Danda, and the Khopra Danda, offering breathtaking views of the valleys and the mountains, mainly during sunset and sunrise. The scenic trails pass through lush forests of pine, oak, and rhododendron, traditional villages of the Magar and Gurung communities set alongside terraced farms and dramatic mountain backdrops, aesthetic ridges, meadows, etc. If you are trekking in the springtime, you will be greeted by blooming rhododendron forests amidst majestic Himalayan backdrops, a scene straight from a fairy tale. You can feel the fragrance in the air slowly filling up your lungs, a natural detoxification process.
Being a new trek, only a handful of people do it, leaving the whole trail to yourself. Also, you get to explore the local lifestyle, have genuine interactions with the friendly locals, and hike to the sacred Khayer Lake, a truly immersive experience.
