A classic trek with a 6000-meter peak – An adventure of a lifetime

The Everest Base Camp Trek needs no further introductions. Trekking through the Sherpa villages, situated amidst the world's highest peaks, while immersing yourself in the local lifestyle, is an experience second to none.

The trek passes through captivating forests of pine and rhododendrons, high valleys, and thrilling suspension bridges. And the ancient Buddhist monasteries, with their beautifully decorated long mani walls, prayer flags, chortens, and prayer wheels that you come across on the trails, allow you to immerse yourself in spirituality. Adding a non-technical 6,000-meter peak on top of that is like adding a cherry on top of the cake, a perfect combination for adventure enthusiasts.

There are 2 Lobuche, the east and the west. The West is an expedition peak reserved for more experienced climbers. Lobuche East Peak (6,090 m) is situated higher up towards the southwest of Everest Base Camp, and it is suitable for beginners wanting to get into the world of mountaineering. But still, strong fitness and high-altitude trekking experience are required.

Breathtaking view from the summit of the Lobuche East and Kalapathhar

The journey to Lobuche Peak Climbing and Everest Base Camp Trek begins with a 25-minute flight to Lukla, one of the world's most challenging airports, renowned for its rapid weather changes and a short, elevated runway. From there, we will follow the classic EBC Trek route and visit notable sites like the Everest Base Camp and Kalapatthar. This will help us to acclimatise gradually for the summit. The sunset view over the peaks like Everest and Nuptse from Kalapatthar (5545 M) is a magical one.

Then we will retrace our way back to Lobuche Base Camp and head towards the high camp from where the real adventure begins. There, we will have a brief session on basic climbing techniques with our professional climbing guide. We will start the climb early in the morning. The initial part of the climb, till the Crampon Point, will be through the rocky sections. From there, we will ascend the icy slopes mostly at around 50 degrees through fixed lines.

The 360-degree view from the top of the Lobuche East Summit is truly breathtaking and heavenly. From the valleys, glaciers, and rivers down below to numerous peaks like Everest, Pumori, Ama Dablam, Makalu, Nuptse, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, and many more, the view is a feast for the eyes. After the summit, we will descend to Thukla and then all the way to Lukla, where we end our trip and fly back to Kathmandu.
